All medium and large open fires to be prohibited within the Southeast Fire Centre zone starting July 5

Effective at noon July 5, all medium and large-sized open fires are prohibited within the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. Specifically this prohibits: Burning waste, slash or other material, whether piled or unpiled, that is larger than 0.5 metres in height or 0.5 metres in width. More... 

Racing against the clock

Parks Canada trail crew members (left to right) Carolyn Schellenberg, Claire Sieber and Ehren Eddy set a heart-pumping pace along Mount Revelstoke National Park’s Meadows in the Sky Parkway on June 15 as part of their annual fire fitness test. Course record broken at Grizzly Bear Run

And they’re off! Competitors in the Grizzly Bear Run hit the pavement at the start of the annual half-marathon on Sunday. Race organizer and well-known local runner Jarrett Spannier said there were 94 runners in the 12 km race and 36 runners in the 4 km fun run. Of the 94 in the 12km, 36 were from Revelstoke and of the 36 in the fun run, 26 from Revelstoke....
