My husband and I where travelling to Golden when the traffic had slowed down and we thought it was due to the paving on the highway. I commented to my husband I think it's an accident. We drove by before any of the rescue vehicles or police had come so it must of been a matter of minutes before we arrived there. It was not something I'll ever forget. We had stopped prior to leaving Revelstoke for a few minutes and that could of been us . So you never know what's going to happen.

We were some of the folks that were brought to a sudden halt on the Rogers Pass on Friday, July 23, 2010. Of course everyone thought the problem was the construction and why would they be so inept that we would wait and wait and wait and then someone came by after a couple of hours to say that there had been a head on collision up ahead [ about 15 minutes ahead of us] and that there were 3 fatalities. It is amazing how quickly one's own priorities become nil when one learns that someone has died. They won't be late tonight - they won't be here ever again and it seemed to me that most felt very sad and we all took another look at ourselves. Just before we were stopped by this dreadful accident a young smart ass in a small car chose to pass the second vehicle in front of us as a semi was approaching very quickly. Had the gentleman in front of us not slowed down and had we not given him the chance to do so there may have been 4 more dead people within a very short time. We all took another look and appreciate how precious life is!!
