New report outlines the lies, lies and more lies behind the BC Liberals’ HST ploy

A damning report out of the BC Ministry of Finance, made available through the Freedom of Information Act, shows the BC government wanegotiating with the federal government regarding implementing the HST months before the provincial election in 2009.
Fight HST Leader Bill Vander Zalm says the report proves the BC government deliberately deceived the public during and after the 2009 election when they claimed they did not have plans to implement the HST until weeks after the election.

“This document shows the premier and finance minister not only did not tell the truth during the election, but they repeated that deception over and over again afterward,” Vander Zalm said in a statement. “Now they’ve been caught red-handed, and they must resign”
Vander Zalm says the report also shows the government was made aware that the HST would have a negative impact on the economy of BC for at least five and perhaps up to ten years.
“They also told us the HST was the best thing they could do for the economy of BC. It turns out they were not telling the truth about that either, since they were fully aware of a C.D. Howe Institute study showing the exact opposite.”
Vander Zalm says the C.D. Howe Institute Report puts the lie to the argument that cancelling the HST will be too costly for BC. “This report shows that cancelling the HST would help BC’s economy and actually save our health care, education and social programs from cuts due to a shrinking tax base under the HST. Not cancelling it will result in business losses, higher unemployment and deep cuts to services.”
“The premier and finance minister’s credibility is shot,” he said. “How they thought they could get away with this is hard to imagine. It’s the sign of an arrogant, out of control government that believes it is above any code of ethics, morals or accountability of any kind.”

Wonder when the Federal Conservatives will come clean about their part in the HST saga?
““I can tell you that (Premier Campbell and Finance Minister Colin Hansen’s announcement) was as much a surprise for us as it was for you,” Abbott said. “We received notice of the announcement just a few hours before it was made public. I don’t think anything was discussed prior to that except for, perhaps, the transition funding.”
That “transition funding” is $1.6 billion Ottawa will pay Victoria as it moves towards implementation of the HST. That is “the full extent” of Ottawa’s involvement to date, he said, adding that the federal government does believe, over all, that the HST is advantageous to business and government because it makes tax collection more efficient. He pointed to the experience of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick with the HST as being good examples of how well the program can work.
Beyond that, Abbott had very little to say about the HST.”
The people of BC, see a very cozy relationship between, Campbell and Harper. They travel together. They have many photo-ops. Harper even gave a speech, in the BC Legislature. They recently attended a BBQ together, right here in BC. There has never been a flicker in my mind, that, Campbell works for Harper. I think Campbell and Harper, colluded on the HST, because, the HST went to Ottawa, faster than the speed of light. Canada, needs to have a purge of corrupt governing officials. I watched the Federal House on TV. A motion passed by the House to give….Banks, large corporations, gas and oil companies, millions of our tax dollars. They also get, huge tax reductions. Now, big businesses, are bottomless pits of greed, they are lined up at the trough, for the HST as well. Harper, Iggy, Campbell and Hansen, each and every one of them, lied to the people, regarding the HST. Canada is rotten to the core with corruption. Which party will stomp out corruption, federally or provincially. I say none. They don’t want to lose, their cash cow.
