The new elementary school finally has a name: Begbie View.
That’s the name the SD 19 School Board settled on after winnowing through about 60 suggestions from the public.
Board Chairman Alan Chell said the suggestions included the names of geographic features and individuals. The board did not reveal any name other than the one it selected.
“We narrowed it down to geographic names,” he said.
Begbie View, as if you hadn’t guessed, harkens back to the Mount Begbie and Mountain View elementary schools, which are slated for closure this autumn.
