Four local news briefs you may want to read

Would you like to help prepare mini-tourtières and maple sugar tarts for the Carousel of Nations?

Preparation of those delectable French-Canadian specialties will take place on Thursday, February 2, from 1 pm to 4 pm and on Friday, February 3, from 9 am to 2 pm in the Community Center kitchen.

If you want to get involved, be it for the whole two days or just for a small part, please send an e-mail to Sarra Dupuis at sarradupuis@hotmail.com or just drop by and join us. We still need volunteers! No experience required. 😉

La préparation des mini-tourtières et des tartes au sucre pour le Carousel of Nations se fera le jeudi 2 fév. de 13h à 16h et le vendredi 3 fév. de 9h à 14h approx. dans la cuisine du centre communautaire! Si vous voulez y mettre la main à la pâte, que ce soit pour toute la corvée ou simplement pour une partie de la tâche, envoyez-moi un courriel ou venez vous joindre à nous! Vous voulez aider le soir même du Carousel pour servir la nourriture ou faire la navette dans la cuisine? Nous avons encore besoin de bénévoles! Aucune expérience requise. 😉

Don’t forget that the Multicultural Society is holding its spectacular Carousel of Nations event st the Community Centre next Saturday, February 4, from 4 until 7 pm.

If you are new to town you should know that the Carousel is one of Revelstoke’s signature public events. This amazing event is a celebration of local diversity through music, dance and food. There are lots of children’s activities and games. Click here to view the poster.

Here’s another unique experience, only this one is for men only: It’s a an opportunity to learn how to make a sterling silver ring for the woman you love.

Local jeweler Arleigh Garratt is conducting two classes at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre. The first one, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm on February 4, will teach you how to make stacking rings. The second, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm on February 11, will teach you how to make a wide ring. All of this, of course, is in aid of making this a very special Valentine’s Day, indeed!

If you’re worried about the local rat problem you may be able to blame it on this winter’s frigid temperatures.
